Nyandarua: Tragedy as KCPE candidate dies after giving birth

A family in Nyandarua is mourning the death of their loved one, a Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) candidate.

According to reports, the candidate at Pesi Primary School died shortly after giving birth at Pesi Dispensary on Tuesday afternoon, March 23.

Confirming the incident, Nyandarua County Commissioner Benson Leparmorijpo said the candidate succumbed to excessive bleeding after delivering.

The candidate was rushed to the medical facility after going into labour just moments before writing her science exam.

Upon arrival at the facility he delivered a baby boy and was allowed to continue writing her exam.

However, she was later noted to have undue bleeding and was transfered to Nyahururu County Referral Hospital together with her infant, where she died shortly after being admitted.

Her infant is said to have developed breathing complications and was incubated at the facility.

The student’s body was moved to Nyahururu morgue awaiting autopsy.

In a separate story, a family in Kipturgut village, Sotik in Bomet County is mourning following the sudden death of their kin.

The deceased, a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidate died under unclear circumstances suspected to be suicide.

Police reports indicated that the deceased was found dangling from a tree inside his parents’ homestead.

It was also noted that the student had attempted to commit suicide on Saturday, March 21, but was rescued by relatives.

The 26-year-old candidate was set to retake his KCSE exams slated for Friday, March 26.
