The country’s top newspapers focused on politics and the formations that are likely to occur ahead of the 2022 General Elections.

The dailies also reported about schools opening and the concerns raised by parents due to the rise in COVID-19 cases in the country.

Students are getting ready for back to school on Monday, July 26 and parents are afraid how the situation will be considering the spike in coronavirus cases in the country.

On the same note, learning institutions have been placed at a challenging situation as they admit students but have to adhere to COVID-19 protocols.

These institutions will have difficulties in ensuring social distancing given that over 400,000 students will be joining form one and chances are classes will be less.

The challenge was still there even without the form ones, and now with having new admissions, it will only get tough.

Apart from that, another challenge faced in schools is lack of enough teachers and shortage essential learning utilities.

It is reported that a good number of school don’t have libraries, laboratories among other amenities.

The daily reported on the kind of government former premier Raila Odinga intends to make if he managed to grab the presidential seat come next year.

In previous statement, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila, had disclosed that his first move will be redesigning and modernizing the civil service.

Raila further noted that he would link his government with private sectors with an aim of linking experts into the civil service.

The Constituency Development Fund (CDF), the National Youth Service (NYS), Huduma number amonth other establishing laws remains hang on the balance after the lapse of the 9-month period given to parliament by the High Court.

Regularization of the laws were expected to be done within nine months by the National assembly and the Senate but nothing has been done so far.

The fall off the nine month period will also affect all the taxes introduced by the National Assembly through the Financial Bill.

The national assembly had passed all the 23 laws but unfortunately nullified by the High Court over lack of senate’s input.

The Swahili newspaper delved into the highly anticipated Western region tour of President Uhuru Kenyatta which has caused a division between the region leaders.

A week ago, Uhuru convened a meeting in Mombasa with the governors in the region where they discussed several agendas.

Kakamega governor Wycliffe Oparanya, Bungoma’s Wycliffe Wangamatiu, Trans Nzoia’s Patrick Khaemba, Busia’s Sospeter Ojaamong’ and Vihiga’s Wilber Otichillo were present in the meeting.

The governors invited the head of state to commission several projects complete in their respective county.

However, their meeting has been criticized by several politician in the region claiming it was not a good picture for them to meet with Uhuru without involving other leaders.
