Narok BBI rally on – ODM trashes Moses Kuria’s cancellation claims

The Orange Democratic Movement party has rubbished Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria’s claims that the Saturday’s BBI meeting in Narok had been canceled.

On his Twitter page, the party’s communication director Philip Etale said that the meeting will take place as scheduled and Kenyans should ignore claims.

Etale slammed Kuria’s claims saying they arose from intoxication.

“Contrary to reports by Moses Kuria that the BBI Narok Rally has been canceled, I want to confirm that I am in Narok and the rally is on as scheduled at Narok Stadium. Kuria’s post is driven by his inebriated mind and should be ignored by everyone #BBIResumes,” read his post.

The Gatundu South MP had earlier stated that the meeting was canceled.

“I thank the organizers of the BBI rally in Narok for calling off the event. It is clear that following what happened in Narok today this would have not ended very well. Better to err on the side of caution,” he said.

According to Kuria, the meeting had been called off due to fears of inter-communal violence.

On Wednesday night Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina had stated that in the meeting only issues affecting the Maasai community will be discussed.

His comments attracted backlash from Kenyans who accused him of fanning tribalism.

However, ODM chief Raila Odinga later in the day issued a statement saying that other communities living in the seven Maasai dominated counties were welcome to attend the rally and air their issues.
