Retired Bishop Sila Yego has disclosed that former president Daniel Moi was ready for his death.
While eulogizing the late head of state, Yego said that he had spoken to Mzee Moi a few months before his death.
He said that Moi told him he knew he was dying and needed prayers.
“It was on September 5 and his family members had gathered and I too was present. He called me and told me that his journey to heaven had begun and I should pray for him, he was so prepared,” said Yego.
“Mzee Moi knew where he was going and as I stand here today, I can say for sure he is with his creator,” he added.
He said the late president valued forgiveness and was always ready to extend an olive branch to anyone he wasn’t in good terms with.
“Mzee lived a Christian life and knew about forgiveness that’s why you are hearing people say that they had no bad blood with the Mzee,” he said.
He said Moi had urged his children to get saved and live a life that pleased God.
Despite his position, he never shied from asking anyone if they were saved.
