A 20-year-old Mpesa attendant has committed suicide after she allegedly lost KSh 120,000 to con men. The lady is said to have killed her 2-month-old baby girl before finally taking her life.

The lady by the name Rose Joseph Kamba was an Mpesa attendant at his uncle’s shop located at Mwingi, Kitui County.

According to her uncle, Christopher Musyoka and his wife Teresia Mbaki, they left the deceased in their rented house as they proceeded to church and on returning home at around 2pm Sunday, March 1, they found the door locked from the inside, Citizen Digital reported.

After unsuccessful attempts trying to enter the house, they reported the matter at Mwingi Police Station for assistance.

The OCS accompanied by police officers arrived at the scene and broke into the two bedroom house and found the body of Rose dangling on a rope from the roof of one of the bedrooms.

Her two-month-old baby lay dead on the adjacent bed with blood oozing from her nose.

A suicide note that was recovered had Rose attributing her decision to end her life to being conned KSh 120K in the Mpesa shop belonging to her uncle and who ‘did not seem to believe her story’

Mwingi Central Sub-county Police Commander Police Mutuma confirmed the incident. The bodies of the two were taken to Mwingi level IV hospital mortuary.
