A scuffle ensued after former prime minister Raila Odinga, wife Ida and his brother Oburu Odinga arrived at Kabarak, Nakuru for the burial of former president Daniel Moi on Wednesday, February 12.

Raila and his wife were allowed to pass through the security team and access the main dais.

However, Oburu who was a few steps behind was blocked by plainclothes officers from approaching the main dais prompting Raila to intervene.

However, Raila had heard the scuffle and immediately turned to save his brother who was then allowed to pass.

Other leaders who have arrived for the burial include President Uhuru Kenyatta, Deputy President William Ruto, Nairobi governor Mike Sonko among other leaders.

Former President Moi who died on Tuesday last week is being buried today, Wednesday February 12 with full military and civilian honors.


Moi had asked to be buried next to his wife Lena.

On his Twitter account Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’ i had said that security would be tight during the burial of the former head of state with more officers being deployed.

Men entering Kabarak University were forced to unfasten their belts before joining other mourners.
