Mixed reactions as Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua unveils KSh 350 million office block

Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua is now running the county from his own ‘White House’ following the completion of the county government’s KSh 350 million offices.

The offices were opened to the public on Wednesday, May 6 as Mutua hosted the Council of Governors led by its Chairman and Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya.

According to sources, the offices that were built in just nine months had two wings; a West Wing and an East Wing.

The West Wing will house Mutua’s office, his chief of staff and executive meeting lounges where the governor will be meeting guests and dignitaries.

On other hand, the East Wing houses the office of the First Lady, the governor’s advisors and other support staff. It also houses a conference facility that has a capacity to hold up to 200 people. Here, the governor will be holding county meetings including meeting MCAs and other guests.

The office also has banquet rooms where he can entertain his high profile guests.

The unveiling of Mutua’s new office elicited mix reactions online with many netizens applauding the Governor for setting up such an amazing structure.

Among them is former presidential candidate Mwalimu Abduba Dida who congratulated the governor for the new offices terming it as a greatest milestone of devolution.

However, James Ole Kiyapi on his side said that Mutua’s intention was to impress and he should have used the funds for public good eg building classrooms.
