Matungu By-election: Drama as Senator Malala accuses police officer of stealing KSh 2 million from him

Drama ensued at a polling station in Matungu on Thursday, March 4 after Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala accused a police officer of stealing KSh 2 million in cash from him.

In a video shared on social media, the Senator could be see be confronting a police officer from the passenger door of a pick up parked by the road side.

The Senator could be seen shouting at the police officer while trying to snatch bundles of notes from him but to no vail.

“This is my money, the police are stealing my money, this man is stealing my money…they have stolen my KSh 2 million,” shouted Malala.

A group of youth allied to Malala tried to intervene and recover the cash but wefe contained by police officers manning the by-election.

It still remains unclear where the police officers found the money and what Malala intended to use the money for.
