Lawyer Steve Ogolla issues statement after being accused of defrauding client KSh 650k

Lawyer Steve Ogolla has issued a statement after being accused of defrauding his clients.

Documents widely shared on social media on Friday, November 12 indicated that the lawyer had conned one Ali Mohammed KSh 650,000.

Further, Ogolla was accused of colluding with former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) CEO Mercy Wambua to defraud his clients.

It was alleged that while conning Ali, Ogolla used Wambua as a reference person to receive payment and also represented her which created a conflict of interest to defraud clients.

“The Law Society of Kenya and Advocates Complaints Commission was used as a cover-up and for protection by Steve Ogolla and he colluded with LSK CEO Mercy Wambua to scam Ali Mohamed Ally KSh650k and failed to file Certificate of Urgency,” one Jay Kiluu claimed.

Responding to the allegations, Ogolla stated that the hashtag had been sponsored by his opponents.

“I’m not running for office, so sponsoring a #SteveOgollaExposed is a lazy approach. Importantly, I charged a client KSh1M in legal fees

“He paid 600K and has a balance of 400K. I filed the Petition, and the Written Submissions. The matter is pending a hearing before Ong’udi J,” Ogolla tweeted.
