Larry Madowo says his grandmother has spent 4 weeks in ventilator battling COVID-19

Celebrated CNN journalist Larry Madowo has opened up that he is heartbroken after his 96-year-old grandmother tested positive for COVID-19.

In an article published on CNN, the reporter who was analysing the Covid-19 vaccination process in Kenya, gave an example of his family revealing his granny has spent over four weeks on a ventilator.

He said the development hearts him every moment he thinks about it and even gets a shivery feeling when getting phone calls fearing to get news if her passing.

“Every time I see a call from home, my heart sinks. I always fear that they’re ringing to say that my grandmother has died,” Madowo wrote.

Madowo further revealed that his granny got vaccine but that was too late as she had already contracted the dreadful disease.

“By the time my grandmother got vaccinated by local officials, she had been infected by COVID-19,” he stated.

According to the media personality, he is praying for her good health even though seems she might not make it

“Her heart is now failing, and mine is breaking,” he said.

Adding Madowo revealed that so far he has lost three family members to the novela coronavirus.

While narrating, he said that he had completed covering a story about a crammed facility in Uganda before getting heartbreaking news about his uncle’s death.

“I was heartbroken and angry. He was not vaccinated because Kenya didn’t and still does not have enough shots even for a senior like him,” he wrote.

He revealed that his uncle was buried within 48 hour following government’s protocols and was unable to mourn him.

While sharing the story on his Twitter page, the journalist said,

“I’m sharing this publicly for the first time because a vaccine on time could have protected my family from this pain. Around half of Americans are now vaccinated. In Africa, it’s 1.5%.

My grandmother’s heart is now failing, and mine is breaking”
