News breaking this morning has indicated that Ohangla musician Maureen Achieng, alias Lady Maureen is dead.
Confirming the singer’s death, a source privy to the happening said the songbird succumbed to her illness on Saturday, July 11 at 3:21 am at her cousin’s place in Awendo.

Mike Peter Sirkal said he received a call from Lady Maureen’s mother at around 3:30am informing him the bad news.
“3:30 am I received a call that shocked me. It was a call from Margret Akinyi Onyango ( lady Maureen’s Biological mother) she called while crying.
” I knew bad news it was. Lady Maureen passed on at her cousin’s place in Awendo around 3:21am plans are underway to take her to Omboo mortuary,” said Mike.
Hundred of thousands of Lady Maureen’s fans took to social media to mourn the departed singer among them ODM leader Raila Odinga who mourned her as a talented and very dynamic musician.
“My condolences go out to the family, friends and fans of Lady Maureen. Achieng’ was immensely talented and very dynamic; always adapting to new trends in a very competitive music industry. May she Rest In Eternal Peace,” said the ODM leader.
The musician had been admitted to Pastor Machage Memorial Hospital in the outskirts of Migori last month.

Since the beginning of the year, she had been in and out of various hospitals battling different kinds of ailments.
