Deputy President William Ruto has castigated Youth and Gender Affairs Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Rachel Shebesh for openly backing ODM party candidate Imran Okoth in Kibra by-election.
The DP who asked Jubilee supporters to rally behind Jubilee’s candidate McDonald Mariga also called out Shebesh for deceptively purporting to speak for Jubilee party leadership.
“All JUBILEE party supporters should ignore and treat with utter contempt rebels and those rejected by the electorate who now deceptively purport to speak for the party leadership. Let’s give Mariga our flag bearer moral,material and prayerful support. Victory is surely beckoning,” read the message on Twitter.
Shebesh, on Friday September 27 raised a furore among Jubilee supporters after claiming President Uhuru Kenyatta does not support Mariga in the Kibra by-election slated for November 7.
The CAS claimed the President had been coerced to support Mariga.
“ I was in State House on that day when the president endorsed Mariga for Kibra race. I know how they mounted pressure on him, and how they gained entry to State House,” claimed Shebesh.
The CAS has come under heavy criticism from a section of Jubilee MPs who have threatened to summon her to the National Assembly for engaging in politics against public servants code of ethics.
