Until his death, Ouko was a senior lecturer at the Department of Sociology at the University of Nairobi.
They included the rise of gambling addiction in Kenya and why there has been an upsurge of jealousy-motivated killings in marriages among many others.
Kenyans flocked social media to mourn the departed lecture, below are some reactions;
That Dr. Ken Ouko of UoN has succumbed to COVID-19 this morning is a chilling reminder that COVID kills. It has plucked one of the very finest. Ken was my lecturer & great friend. Exceptionally brilliant with a great sense of humour. Covid has reaped where it did not sow. Go well pic.twitter.com/L4gjhpZ26Y— O S I A N Y® 🇰🇪 (@DavidOsiany) August 1, 2020

I’m yet to come to terms with the sad reality that Kennedy Oyala Ouko is no more! As my senior at Maseno School, I vividly recall the support & guidance you gave us at Stansfield House.Since then, we kept our friendship & professional ties to date

My favorite lecturer while I was a student at @uonbi DR. KEN OUKO has gone to be with the Lord. His classes were the best, so much fun, easy to grasp and so practical did he make psychology and sociology seem. Covid-19 has robbed us a food gift. RIP don. pic.twitter.com/DjLmhdT2FE— Muchiri Maina (@M_2wais) August 1, 2020
I've woken up to the bad news of the passing on of Dr. Ken Ouko, University of Nairobi Sociology Department. Doctor Ouko taught me Sociology which was a Common Course at the Faculty of Law. He was a man of great intellect and decency. Rest in Eternal Peace Mwalimu. pic.twitter.com/F1YZnsKgqp— Hon. George Peter Kaluma (@gpdkaluma) August 1, 2020
Dr Ken Ouko, a brilliant fellow, my lecturer, a friend, go well bro, you served humanity with a lot of dedication and respect. It's a big loss to the University of Nairobi and department of Sociology and Social work. pic.twitter.com/eKl9PPJGwu— KIPROTICH (KIP) (@KIPniKIP) August 1, 2020
