Drama was witnessed in Lugari, Kakamega County after a dead body reportedly ‘refused’ to be taken to the morgue.

According to reports, four vehicles were thwarted by Kepha Abukusi an 88-year-old old man who had passed on forcing the family to cancel the journey to the mortuary.

His family members and relatives had organised a meeting to plan on which morgue they will take their kin for preservation before his burial.

The family ordered four vehicles in a series but they all developed mechanical problems.

They had agreed to transport the body to the nearest mortuary named Chebaiywa.

Trouble started immediately as the first car broke down on its way to the home to collect the body.

The family quickly organised for the second car which its engine reportedly developed a problem while at the petrol station.

“The owner of the first vehicle helped us to bring in another vehicle whose engine failed to start immediately after fueling at a local filling station,” Evans Odari said.

The third vehicle carried the body for 2 kilometres before it also stonewalled.

“We prayed before putting the body into the vehicle hoping that we would reach the morgue safely but about two kilometres away, the vehicle could not move any further,” added Odari.

The family organised for the forth vehicle because they wanted the deceased to be preserved as they continue with the burial plans.

The vehicle failed to move just moments after the body was loaded.

The family then seeked services of a nearby mechanic to check what was wrong with the vehicles but he said it had no mechanical problem.

The deceased’s daughter lost all the money that was contributed to pay for the transport cost under unclear circumstances.

After the failed trials, the elders cancelled plans to have him preserved in a morgue and asked the body to be pulled out.

Ironically, the vehicles drove off smoothly as if nothing like a mechanical problem had happened.

The daughter of the late who had lost all the money also recovered it despite the fact that the place was crowded.
