Lake Bogoria formely known as Lake Hannington is located in Baringo County, Kenya.
Lake Bogoria is one among the alkaline and saline lakes in the Eastern Rift Valley covering approximately 34 square kilometers with a catchment area of 1,207 square kilometers.

Lake Bogoria is 17 kilometers long and has a maximum width of 4 kilometers.
The area has an ideal condition and is home to birds such as flamingoes dues to enough algae found in the lake brought about by the waters alkalinity.
The flamingoes creat a beautiful scene due to their pink colour especially when they are feeding in large flocks.
You will not only find flamingoes in Lake Bogoria but also other birds and animals such as buffalo, zebra, baboon, warthog, caracal, spotted hyena, impala and dik dik.
The most interesting part about Lake Bogoria is its hot springs, geysers and fumaroles along its shore.
There are about 200 hot springs either inside the Lake or outside with water temperatures from 39 to 98.5C around the area.
The hot springs have high carbon (IV) oxide which causes the wild boiling.
The Lake has also many geysers. They are generally formed as a result of volcanic erosion that happened years ago.
Die to frequent fluctuations of water level in the Lake, there have been major hydrothermal challenges.
Geysers behavior can be altered even in a slight changes of water level.
In this case, geysers which were active in 2001 and 2005 have weakened due to drought. Other springs however, have continued being active irregardless.
At the western shore of the lake, that is, Loburu Delta, the geysers activities increased leading to one geyser KL30 erupting on a regular 45 minute cycle up to 5 m in height. The Kl30 is one of the highest geysers in Africa.
