It was pomp and colour at ODM leader Raila Odinga's residence as Mama Ida Odinga celebrated her 70th birthday in a lavish party.

EALA MP Oburu Odinga and Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru were also in attendance.

Taking to social media, Waiguru described Ida as a strong, wise and selfless woman who has played a critical role in uniting Kenya.

"Joined Rt. Hon Raila Odinga, family and other leaders in celebrating Mama Ida’s birthday. Ida Odinga you are strong, wise, graceful & selfless. Not many know or understand the critical role you play in this nation. God grant you many fruitful years ahead, full of laughter and love," wrote Waiguru.

However, away from the good time that the attendees of the party had, it was noted that the party was hosted in total disregard of the COVID-19 guidelines.

From photos shared on social media, no attendee was spotted wearing a facemask or even observing the social distancing rule.

Waiguru's presence at the party also raised eyebrows with a section of netizens claiming she was there over the political woes.
