He is not our son – Kakamega family says of stowaway whose body fell from KQ plane in London

A Kakamega family linked to the stowaway who fell from a KQ plane in London has slammed reports identifying Paul Manyasi as their son.

The family has since said they don’t know the exact whereabouts of their son who left home in 2016 adding all the information that has been shared in a report by Sky News has nothing to do with him.

Speaking to KTN News, the alleged father identified as Isaac Manyasi in the report by SkyNews reporter John Sparks, claimed he had categorically told the reporter the photos he had showed him did not belong to his son who he suspects disappeared to Nairobi.

The man who identified himself as Isaac Beti further said his son’s name was Cedrick Shivanji and not Paul Manyasi as has been reported by the British news outlet.

“I was shocked by the news that he was my son despite having shown them (the reporter) a totally different photo of my son and telling them the one they were showing me was not my son…I will sue them,” he said.

He said he had recently received information his son who he suspects disappeared to Nairobi had been arrested and was being held at Industrial Area Police Station.

He said Shivanji left their home village in 2016 and the last time he talked to him was in July 2017.

Beti said he had no idea what his son was doing in the city and he is planning to travel to Nairobi on Friday, November 15, to follow up on the matter.

The report by Sky News claimed that Manyasi worked for a cleaning company called Colnet which is contracted to cleaning works at JKIA.

This was after a number of interviews with several sources including a tax driver and  Manyasi’s alleged co-worker who claimed he had disappeared around end of June.

The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA), and Colnet have since denied ever having a worker by that name.

Police on Sunday June 30 were called to a residential address in Offerton Road, Clapham, London after a body was discovered in a garden.

A post-mortem examination held on 3 July gave cause of death as multiple injuries.
