Baringo Senator Gideon Moi on Thursday, September 17 cleared fees arrears for a university student who lost her husband in a grisly road accident in 2019.
The mother of two and a fourth year Bachelor of Education student at Egerton University can now complete her studies and join the career of her dreams.
Speaking after meeting the Senator, Linet Sombai remembered the fateful day she lost her beloved husband.
She narrated that her husband was travelling from Busia headed to Kericho when the vehicle he was travelling in was involved in a road accident at the Kisumu- Busia highway in September 2019.
She added that life has not been easy since her husband died.
“My husband died last year near a place called Luanda somewhere around Maseno. He was travelling to Kericho from Busia on that day when it happened. Life has not been easy since I have to take care of my two kids,” she said
Linet who now plays the role of a mother and a father, also said that even if she was not financially stable she would always make sure her children are well dressed and fed up.
She had fees arrears that had accumulated to a total of KSh 153,340 and had no way to pay as she was spending the little she had on her children.
Senator Moi who was moved by her story and cleared the fees arrears to allow her to embark on her studies and career.
