A male student from Kamama Boys in Embu County has been arrested after allegedly cooperating with girls from Mugumo Girls’ Highschool in setting a dormitory ablaze.

According to a police report, the boy sneaked from his school into the girls’ school and gave his girlfriend a cigarette lighter which was used in lighting the dormitory.

The dormitory housed 220 students who were left weeping after their valuable things burned as they watched.

According to Gichugu sub-county police boss, Anthony Mbogo the boy was arrest at Kimunye village, Kirinyaga County.

Mbogo further disclosed that the male student was led a strike that brought massive destruction of property at his school in Kamama Boys.


“His parent told us Kamama Boys in Embu was closed last week after students destroyed school property,” Mbogo said.

The arson incident at the Mugumo Girls’ happened on Sunday February 14, around 2 pm to 3 pm while the rest of the students were in class studying.

Nine girls were arrested on Friday, February e following the incident and were taken to Kianyaga police station.

Mbogo said that the girls revealed the name of the male student who helped them.

The police commander revealed that they are searching for another suspect who accompanied the male student.
