DCI detectives have arrested a man pretending to be a police officer who allegedly extorted a college student KSh 30,000.
The suspect, identified as Daniel Ochieng’ is said to have arrested a Kabete National Polytechnic student after introducing himself as a police officer from Central Police Division on mission to investigate crimes in the tertiary institution.
.@DCI_Kenya Detectives yesterday arrested a 23-year old man namely Daniel Ochieng, after having visited Kabete National Polytechnic and introduced himself as a police officer posted from Central Police division to conduct investigations on crimes within the institution.
“In the course of his unlawful conduct, he arrested a student on allegations that he was peddling narcotic drugs. He further intimidated the victim with severe police action and in the process extorted Thirty thousand Kenya shillings from him,” read one of the messages posted on DCI Twitter account.
The victim thereafter made a report to our officers who arrested the impostor and upon searching him recovered one roll of bhang, a toy pistol and Ksh 30,000.
The suspect will be arraigned today.
According to DCI, the victim reported the incident to police who in turn hunted down the impostor.
