Daring couple name their son Lucifer
Dan said they are not religious people, adding that the name means 'light-bringer' and 'morning' in Greek
A couple living in New Zealand has stunned many after naming their son after the devil.
Dan and Mandy Sheldon named their son Lucifer.
GOTTA.news understands that the name is banned in New Zealand, but the couple went out of their way and went to a registrar in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, to get their baby officially named Lucifer.
However, the registrar warned them from using the name, but the couple insisted and they were eventually allowed to use the name.
"She told us he would never be able to get a job, and that teachers wouldn't want to teach him," Dan recounted.
The name was approved after Dan lodged a complaint over the way he and his wife were treated after visiting the council office for the registration.
"We apologise if they were offended but it is the job of our registrars to advise in these matters as sometimes people are not aware of certain meanings or associations around certain names," Dan said.
Explaining why they chose the name, Dan said they are not religious people, adding that the name means 'light-bringer' and 'morning' in Greek.
