Health CS Mutahi Kagwe on Friday, May 22 held his briefing in Machakos County as the Ministry embarks on touring different counties.

Speaking at the offices shortly after announcing the country’s new COVID-19 cases, CS Kagwe lauded Governor Mutua for setting up the iconic building which he admitted was better than his office.

“I want to congratulate you on the initiatives that you have taken and for your forward-looking and the way you manage your county. I have just come from a very nice building the White House.. There will be those who will criticise the Governor but I like how the Government of Machakos is ‘futuristic’ they see far,” he added.

The CS also hailed Mutua for improving the healthcare system terming it as fruits of devolution.

“Devolution works, in the 2010 constitution there were those who started wondering whether we should devolve at all. I can tell you, without fear of contradiction, whatever we’ve seen in Machakos we would never habe seen if it was all being managed in Nairobi, that is a fact,” he said.

“The possibility that there would have been a cancer centre here in Machakos at this time would have been very difficult,” he added.

He also congratulated Governor Mutua for the initiatives he has undertaken to improve the county and his management style.
