Coast Regional Police Commander Rashid Yakub has filed an application to have to his assault case against Governor Mike Sonko dropped.
Yakub cites he is not ready to continue with the case, asking the court to consider the matter closed.
Sonko who was at the court did not take plea with his legal team hailing the decision by the complainant to close the matter.
The court expected to make the ruling on the matter on Wednesday, January 22.
Yakub who had filed an assault case said the governor had kicked him on the thigh during his arrest in Voi on December 7, 2019.
National Police Service spokesman Charles Owino also accused the Governor of acts of lawlessness against police action during arrest.
“During the arrest, he became abusive, unruly and violent in an attempt to resist hence obstructing police officers from the lawful execution of their duties,” read the statement.
