The woman revealed that she begged the officers to let her out so that she can take her baby to the hospital but her cries fell on dead ears.

"I just dressed him up in a vest and a short and we left for the police station. At 7, Malaba's station car came while I was still writing my statement and my child started vomiting. And the police asked if the child is sick and I said yes. And they refused to hear me and locked me in and since they are the government, I could not argue with them," she narrated.

The distressed woman noted that she had to spread her clothes on the floor on the floor to have the baby sleep and used another part to cover him.

The baby was however in worse condition in the morning hours and it was when a female officer who saw took the baby and rushed him to a nearest hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

After the news of the demise, the officer ran away and left the distressed mother alone at the hospital.

Her husband, Alphonse Ekiring said he was searching for money to bail his wife out before receiving the shocking news.

"The kid did not have any mistake. It was the mother who had a mistake. They should have treated him I just hope that justice will prevail," he said.
