Brother Peter Tabichi to address UN assembly

Peter Tabichi is set to address the 74th session session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Brother Tabichi will recite the popular St Francis prayer before the start of the general assembly and shed light on how he has excelled in the teaching profession.

Tabichi, who teaches math and physics at Keriko Mixed Day Secondary School in Nakuru county is a member of the St Franciscan Friars, a religious order founded by St Francis of Assisi in the 13th century.

The assembly starts its sessions on September 17 and it will discuss climate change, universal health coverage as well as the politics of sustainable development.

The teacher rose to worldwide fame after winning the 2019 Global Teacher Prize that came with KSh 100 million reward.

He touched many souls after it emerged that he donated 80% of his salary to less fortunate learners.

Brother Tabichi registered his name in history as the first African teacher to win the coveted Global Teacher Award.
