The 2022 succession is a big issue to those who will be contesting for the top seat after Uhuru Kenyatta leaves office at the end of his term.

Deputy President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga are expected to be on the ballot.

There are also rumours that President Uhuru may want to stick in government, albeit in different capacity, even after his term expires in 2022.

Popular city Lawyer Ahmednassir Abdullahi on Monday, January 20 set up a Twitter poll to find out who was the most popular of the candidates.

The question read : If election for President of Kenya was held TODAY who would you vote for? Kenyans were supposed to vote whom they wanted to lead them post 2022.

In the poll that lasted a day and a few hours, 53.1 of the 34,520 participants voted for DP Ruto with Raila emerging second with 34.1 percent.

Only 12.6 percent of the participants thought Uhuru should be handed a third term despite the constitution’s two-term limit.

The poll whose results cannot be scientifically authenticated elicited mixed reactions from Raila and DP Ruto supporters.
