A woman is over the moon after reuniting with his family after 49 years.
According to reports, Leah Cartwright was given a DNA kit for her birthday in 2019 but decided to keep to the next birthday to open it.
Upon opening the kit, the DNA results linked her to a person said to be her first cousin, after which she reached out to her, to which her cousin responded on August 7.
“Her face is my face, this is absolutely, amazing,” she said.
Cartwright was the only child to her adopted family but she has two and three biological brothers and sisters respectively.
She had communicated with her mother but she is yet to meet her in person.
The family held a reunion celebration on September 5 and named it Candice Day.
The woman now wants to change her name from Leah Cartwright to Candice, the name she was given at birth.

According to Chebet she has attempted suicide twice after several times of failing to trace her family
Through a call that she made to the station she asked the Njanjo ya Muturire presenter to help her find he mother and siblings.
“In the morning during our interview, Chebet mentioned she would fall into depression if she failed to locate her mother. Little did she know that we had a surprise gift for her ‘mama’,” wrote the presenter.
