Azimio One Kenya Alliance deputy president nominee Martha Karua on Thursday, May 19 told off a section of people who heckled her.
In a video widely shared online, the politician was forced to cut short her address at a roadside rally to lecture the hecklers.
Karua noted that leaders who mobilized the goons to invade the Azimio rally were lost and did not know their direction.
She also advised the hecklers that inspite the hard economic times, they should not be mobilized to disrupt political rallies for some little money.
“Ukiona mwanasiasa yeyote akituma wafuasi wake kupiga kelele kwa mkutano ya wenyewe, jua hao ni watu ambao hawana mwelekeo
“Najua kuna njaa na hatuna pesa, lakini msikombolewe na pesa kidogo kufanya kazi ya utoto; waambie wenye kukutuma waje kwangu wenyewe,” Karua said.
Karua’s plea sparked reactions from netizens who supported her sentiments.
Ndotch Ndegwa: Politics of heckling is outdated, backward and primitive. Teach them the lessons Madam Deputy President.
Kalvin Fuse: Thank you iron lady. Hiring youths to disrupt and heckle leaders will soon come to an abrupt end.
Martin Chacha: She has started facing the truth, her appointment to be a running mate caused excitement, the reality is Ruto/ Gachagwa.
Cherusei Kelly: Well said. This is what we call mature politics. Congratulations, I can’t wait to see you being sworn in as the first female deputy president of the republic of Kenya.
