Celebrated comedian Walter Mong’are, alias Nyambane is finally set to receive his degree, 25 years after joining university.
According to Standard Digital, the comic wrote his last papers at Daystar University last week and he is now awaiting his graduation.
“Papers might not be everything, but they are important. I have finally cleared my degree course and I am looking forward to graduating
“Daystar University provided a workable work and job plan and though the commitment was hectic, I managed to sail through smoothly,” Mong’are said.
Mong’are starting studying at Kenyatta University and has since enrolled in various institutions seeking a workable work and school formula, which he says he finally got at Daystar.
In a past interview, the former radio presenter who currently works as Director of Youth Affairs explained why he dropped hi moniker, Nyambane.
“When the President gave me the responsibility to be in charge of youth in his office, he said ‘I will no longer call you Nyambane, now you are Walter,” he said.
When Uhuru announced the decision to appoint Mong’are, he stated;
“Sasa nataka huyu kijana Nyambane mimi mnipatie. Sasa mambo ya entertainment amewacha, akuje aungane na mimi kwa serikali tufanye mambo ya kuwatafutia kazi.”
Mong’are had worked in Kisii as the Director of Communications under Governor James Ong’wae in 2013 before shifting base to Nairobi under former Governor Evans Kidero from where Kenyatta poached him.
The youth affairs director stated that although he was no longer doing comedy, he was still a fun person in his duties.
