Citizen TV news anchor Waihiga Mwaura’s father, Senior Counsel David Mwaure Waihiga, has announced plans to contest for presidency in the August 9 General Elections.
Mwaure announced his presidential bid on Saturday, March 19 when he was endorsed by Agano Party as the presidential flag bearer.
Agano Party held a National Delegates Conference (NDC) on the said date at the Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) Guest House in Nairobi where Mwaure was handed the party’s presidential ticket.
“We in Agano are saying it is time for change, it is time for Kenya to have a new leadership. We are saying that Kenya will not go anywhere if we let the same leaders who have been there for years
“It is time to bring to an end the curse and practice of corruption and scandals,” Mwaure said.

He slammed other presidential aspirants saying they had questionable integrity and have been involved in some of the country’s biggest scandals.
“It is time to bring an end to the curse and practice of corruption and scandals. When we look at some of our competitors, we see the NYS, KEMSA, MoH, maize, and Anglo-Leasing scandals,” Mwaure said.

Mwaure joined politics in 2011 when he contested for the Kamukunji parliamentary seat following the nullification of Simon Mbugua’s election by the High Court.
