VIDEO: Woman climbs into lion’s enclosure and dances, waves at it

A woman has shocked the world after climbing into a lion enclosure and taunting a large male lion at Bronx Zoo in New York.

The Zoo has since issued a statement condemning the incident saying the woman put herself in “serious danger”

In the viral Instagram video, the rather pre-occupied lion stands and stares at the woman who at one time dances to it.

What’s more, the woman does not appear to be frightened of the fearsome animal, even when it stealthily steps towards her.

The man who filmed the video, Hernán Reynoso, told WNBC TV  at first he thought the woman and her dancing were all part of some kind of exhibit.

“But when I see … she just was there, dancing, saying, ‘Hi,’ to the lion and everything and that was crazy,” Reynoso said.

He reportedly stopped recording the incident when the lion roared, prompting him to pick up his young son and leave the area.

In a statement the zoo condemned the incident saying the woman put herself in serious danger.

“This action was a serious violation and unlawful trespass that could have resulted in serious injury or death.

“Barriers and rules are in place to keep both visitors, staff and animals safe. We have a zero tolerance policy on trespass and violation of barriers.”

New York Police Department told CNN that the Bronx Zoo has filed a complaint for criminal trespass but no arrests have been made yet.
