Netizens have been angered by three police officers in Lodwar County after a viral video showed them beating mentally challenged patient.
In the video, the officers handcuffed the patient first before beating him mercilessly over claims that he caused disturbances at the Lodwar County Referral Hospital.
The male patient can be heard begging for forgiveness but his cries landed on deaf ears of the officers in uniform.
Some onlookers who are believed to be patients also only watch and encouraged the officers to continue beating the man.
Kenyans online have demanded the National Police Service (NPS) to take action against the officers as soon as possible.
Odindo Peter: “It’s the police who are mentally ill. Kenyans are being kidnapped and murdered and they do nothing about it. They only have the guts to beat innocent Kenyans.”
Alphonce Tole: “This is an act of barbarism. The perpetrators who are rogue police officers must be arrested and charged accordingly.”
Macha Wambugu: “Why do our police think physically? This is patient abuse and a violation of his human rights.”
Naftali Nyakundi: “This man was in the right place, he should have been given medical attention and not such torture.”
Etieno Edwards: “Tomorrow one of these police will go missing and unfortunately be found dead in unknown circumstances and we’ll ask ourselves how? Blood of such mishandled man can not dry in vain. These officers will pay for every bloodshed.”
