The Opposition leader Raila Odinga’s critics have continued to poke holes in his pact with the tough-talking Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua.
This is after it emerged that Karua is one of the top politicians being considered to be Raila’s running mate under the Azimio One Kenya coalition in the forthcoming polls.
The ODM leader’s distractors have since unearthed a past video where Karua had expressed reservations about Raila’s presidential candidacy in the 2013 General Election.
In the clip, the former Gichugu MP said she does not share any values with the former prime minister and neither does she admire his style of politics.
Karua insisted that it was prudent for Raila to retire from politics together with the then-president the late Mwai Kibaki insisting that they had failed to deliver their promises to the people.
“I do not share any values with Raila Odinga nor do I admire his politics. In fact, I have been calling upon him to go home together with president Mwai Kibaki.
Both he and Kibaki have been totally unable to uproot corruption from within their ranks and therefore, the voters of Kenya ought to be good enough to send both of them home. One by law and another one by the ballot,” said Karua.
The video elicited mixed reactions with the tweeps questioning what made Karua change her heart and accept to support Raila’s presidency again.
Mhesh Michael said: “She should tell us what has changed for her to join his camp.”
Jamu Njagi said: “When eagles hang around chickens so much, they forget how to fly. Njenga was the first to say the effects of Martha Karua hanging around Kalonzo so much was being a watermelon. Ona sasa”
Francis Karanja said: The situation has not changed, RAO must retire for his failures in governance, unable to fight corruption indeed he propagates corruption through BBI and Azimio and lastly the father of chaos, deceit and demeanour.”
Nelson Kipkori questioned: Martha Karua have you been forced or promised deputy president post?”
Sir Nophia said: It reaches a point when one has to do the RIGHT thing NOT for convenience but for posterity.”
