Video of Kisumu County askaris dragging woman on road from speeding car causes uproar

A video showing Kisumu county askaris dragging a woman on road behind a speeding vehicle has angered Kenyans online.

It is reported that the askaris found fault with woman who was hawking around the city’s Central Business District  and arrested her.

In the video making rounds online, the woman is heard screaming hopelessly for help while being dragged behind a speeding white Pick up.

Angry residents shouted at the officers commanding them to stop the vehicle immediately.

On Social media pages, Kenyans called out the askaris for subjecting the hawker to such traumatizing ordeal and causing her physical injuries.

Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o has been asked by the Kenya Human Rights Commission (KHRC)to take the required action against the county employees.

The KHRC released a statement where they termed the actions as inhuman and called for immediate arrest of the askaris.
