A section of online users has expressed reservations about Kakamega senator Cleophas Malala’s claim that he studied at the United States International University (USIU).
This is after a video emerged on social media of the senator struggling to explain that he indeed pursued a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems and Technology at the luxurious institution.
In the video, the Kakamega gubernatorial aspirant was not sure when he joined the international learning institution, saying it is either between 2006 and 2007.
He continued that he completed his degree and graduated in 2011. What puzzled his followers is that his degree certificate indicates he left the institution in 2019.
When quizzed to explain during an interview, the lawmaker said 2019 is when the degree was printed.
Malala’s mix-up elicited mixed reactions on social media.
Babu Owino said: “Huyo ni village salad. Academic dwarf. Academic orphan.”
Janet Walibora said : “How can you forget the year you graduated? Ati 2011 …2010 …am not sure.”
Watulo Edwin said: “Hehehehe, this guy needs to be investigated for forgery. He cannot even remember the year he graduated.”
Maureene Oteba said: “USIU should come here and prove it . The years dint add up!”
Stallon Mokaya said: “Ironically he can’t remember the exact date yet he brought the whole village to celebrate, if you wake me up at 3 am, I will tell you the date I graduated from Uni.”
Abdirizak Torres said: “He is not on the list of USIU because he was an independent student.”
