A 21-year-old man was on Sunday, January 9 arrested after a decomposing body of a woman was found inside his house in Molo, Nakuru County.
Mark Njoroge Wanjiku, a third year student at Kibabii University was later on Monday, January 10 arraigned in court after failing to explain why the mutilated body was found inside his house.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Mary Njeri Kamau, a 38-year-old mother of eight went missing on Friday, December 31, 2021 after leaving her house.
Molo Resident Magistrate Rhoda Yator granted investigators14 more days to hold the suspect as they conclude the probe.
The case will be mentioned on January 24.
Elsewhere, a murder suspect was on Saturday, January 8 arrested after turning up at the crime scene hours after the alleged killing.
The suspect is accused of killing a boda boda operator following a brief altercation between them after failing to pay the rider on arrival at his destination.
According to the officer, the suspect hit the boda boda operator several times on the head with a stone, killing him on the spot.
He then rode the motorcycle and hid it near his compound shortly before turning at the incident scene mourning the departed rider.
However, the officer noted that villagers noticed blood splatter on his clothes and upon questioning him, he ran away before police officers caught with him an hour later.
The suspect is currently being held at the Naivasha Police Station.
