Uhuru’s Cousin Explains Why President Could ‘Suffer’ For Endorsing Raila

Captain (Rtd) Kung’u Muigai has dismissed President Uhuru Kenyatta’s decision to endorse ODM leader Raila Odinga’s presidential bid.

Kung’u who is Uhuru’s cousin said the Head of State’s decision to front Raila as his preferred candidate is his personal decision and it did not reflect that of the Kenyatta family.

He claimed the move made by the outgoing president was against oath taken by the GEMA nation in 1969 where they swore never to support Jaramogi Oginga Odinga and his kin.

Kung’u has stated that those who took the oath must be cleansed to avoid curses.

Speaking at the Sagana State Lodge, Uhuru urged his community to back Raila’s bid saying he has the best interests for the country.

He added that he will have no problem supporting Deputy President William Ruto in future but only if he reforms.

“I appeal you to support Raila. Help him to the top. Even my friend Ruto, he can become president someday akishika line. Tushikilie huyo Mzee (Raila) mara hii, huyo kijana (Ruto) tutafikiria baadaye

“Let’s hold the old man’s hand and if the other young man also reforms, I have not stopped anyone from supporting him,” Uhuru said.

At the same time, Uhuru is set to join ODM leader Raila Odinga in popularising the Azimio La Umoja coalition starting next week.

Speaking during ODM’s National Delegates Conference, the ODM leader said they will conduct nationwide campaigns before launching a joint presidential candidate.

“We have decided that from next week, we shall start countrywide tours to promote the movement

“We shall then come back to Nairobi, have an official launch and unveil our joint candidate,” Raila said.

Orchestrated by Mzee
Jomo Kenyatta’s inner circle, the oath was meant to mobilise GEMA communities against
Jaramogi Oginga Odinga who had fallen out with Mzee Kenyatta.
