President Uhuru Kenyatta has ordered his entire cabinet and the Executive office to get vaccinated for Covid-19.
The head of state said that by taking the jab, the state Officers would make an important move of leading the others by example.
Uhuru’s statement was confirmed by Chief of Staff in the Office of the President, Nzioka Waita who said he had obeyed the order and taken the jab.
“As the government scales up the rollout of the national #COVID19Vaccine programme, H.E the president has directed his entire Cabinet and Executive Office to lead by example and get the jab! Received mine this morning under the watchful guidance of the @MOH_Kenya vaccination team,” Waita tweeted.
Staff in the executive office of the President and cabinet secretaries are awaited to follow the directives and get vaccinated for coronavirus.
Uhuru’s orders comes at a time when the country is experiencing third wave of the deadly virus.
The Ministry of Health previously released a statement noting that receiving the vaccine was viral to get everyone back to their normal lives.
“In Phase 1 we’re prioritizing frontline workers who include those in the health sector, teachers and staff working in institutions of learning, members of the disciplined forces, and persons aged 58 years and above,” read a statement from the Ministry of Health.
