Uhuru Explains Fallout With DP Ruto: ‘He’s Power-Hungry and Wanted Me Out’

President Uhuru Kenyatta has explained why he fell out with his deputy, William Ruto since the famous Uhuru-Raila handshake in March 2018.

Speaking during a meeting with Kikuyu elders in State House on Saturday, March 26, Uhuru cited DP Ruto’s attacks at the government as the reason behind their fallout.

He noted that the DP was power-hungry and he wanted him out of power.

According to sources who attended the State House meeting, Uhuru also stated that his deputy had plans to ouster him from power by rallying MPs allied to Jubilee against him.

The Head of State is also said to have explained why he endorsed ODM leader Raila Odinga for the presidency, noting that DP Ruto was interested in succession politics from the word go.

Uhuru said Ruto would be a mistake if he wins the August 9 General Elections.

This came days after Mama Ngina Kenyatta defended his son’s decision to support Raila to succeed him once he exits office at the end of his second and final term.

“Let’s try to love each other, this country is ours and we should strive to move it forward. Your leader cannot show you the wrong path,” she said.

In an apparent reference to Ruto, Mama Ngina stated that Uhuru was not to blame for the fallout between the two.
