City lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi has been put on the spot after sharing fake news through his official social media pages.
In an update on Twitter, the lawyer shared information alleging that the Ugandan police spokesperson had assaulted a journalist during a recent presser.
Ina widely shared post, it was said that the spokesperson hit the journalist with a catapult for asking him irrelevant questions.
Ahmednasir fell for the fake news and reposted it with the caption, “Our neighbours”.
The allegations got the attention of the Ugandan police who reacted to the same, flagging the lawyer’s Twitter post as fake news.
Following the statement, the lawyer promised to take down the post.
“Great will delete it. Great that you are proactive and pass my regards,” Ahmednasir wrote.
In August 2020, Ahmednasir sparked reactions after claiming that he sometimes represent clients in court just to fill his pockets, adding that he is always attracted to cases that have good money.
“There are thousands of cases I have done. I tell guys that I do cases for two reasons. One is for the money. I don’t deny it. When the money is good, I will do it. But that is not the only reason,” he said.
“There are many cases I do because of the human element or aspect. I have done many cases just to show that you may have more money than my client but we can still beat you in court.”
