The country’s top newspapers on Monday, October 25 highlighted counties that tend to have a impact on the 2022 presidential vote.
Thw dailies also reoorted that ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi is under pressure to support ODM leader Raila Odinga in the forthcoming elections.
Accordion to the newspaper, politicians continue to rally their supporters to participate in the ongoing voter registration exercise.
Despite efforts by the politicians, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has missed its target of new voters registration.
In the past to weeks, IEBC has registered 491,968 voters out of the intended 3 million.
The top counties with a high number of voter registration include Nairobi, with 43,137, Nakuru with about 19,694 new voters, Bungoma comes third with 17,079 new voters and Kilifi county with 16,439.
According to the daily, the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) is planning for kick off a vigorous campaign ahead of the 2022 General Election.
Its principals are set to meet soon and decode on the formation’s presidential candidate before kicking off the countrywide tour.
OKA brings together Gideon Moi of KANU, Kalonzo Musyoka of Wiper Party, Ford Kenya’s Moses Wetangula, and Musalia Mudavadi of ANC.

According to the newspaper, the ANC party leader has gone slow on his campaigns in the recent past because President Uhuru Kenyatta wants him to back the ODM leader.
However, even as Mudavadi is under pressure to drop his bid, top ANC politicians have insisted that their party leader must partake in the race come 2022.
“That script is being fronted by some powerful individuals and government bureaucrats who are pushing Mudavadi and some of our members to support Raila, but we want to assure our supporters that his name will be on the ballot paper next year,” said Lugari MP Ayub Savula.
According to the daily, the presidential race in 2022 will significantly be shaped by 15 counties.
At the moment, presidential candidates have shifted their focus to the vote-rich Mt Kenya region forgetting other counties outside the region.
Counties that will impact the State House race in the Mt Kenya region are Nyandarua, Nyeri, Tharaka Nithi, Meru, Kiambu, Embu, Murang’a, Kirinyaga and Laikipia.
Neglected counties outside the Mt Kenya region that will shape the presidential race include Nakuru, Turkana, Marsabit, Uasin Gishu, Kisii, and Nyamira.
The Swahili publication reported on the dwindling relationship between Deputy President William Ruto and Uganda President Yoweri Museveni.
Uganda is said to have intercepted commercial trucks from Kenya ferrying fish worth KSh 50 million in Kasese, Uganda.
Speaking recently, DP Ruto called on Museveni to release them as they were ferrying perishable goods, adding that the owners tend to suffer losses should the goods spoil as the Ugandan authorities hold them.
“That is not bhang or alcohol being transported. They are legitimate products being transported by Kenyan businesspeople. I would like to tell Museveni to release the trucks for these two nations to continue enjoying their cordial relations,” said Ruto.
