Top Newspaper Headlines for July 20: One Kenya Alliance to receive report on modalities to pick 2022 flag bearer

Thousands of Muslims in the country are today, Tuesday, July 20 celebrating Eid Ul-Adha which is Islam’s second significant religious festival after Eid-Ul-Fitr and marks the end of the fasting period Ramadhan.

The One Kenya Alliance (OKA) is set to meet today, Tuesday, July 20 to receive a report from a technical team on among other issues, modalities to pick a suitable presidential candidate come 2022.

The OKA leaders are torn between them on who will face DP Ruto in the 2022 polls.

The alliance brings together Baringo senator Gideon Moi his Bungoma counterpart Moses Wetang’ula, party leaders Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper Kenya), and Musalia Mudavadi (Amani National Congress).

The government is considering plans to block universities from admitting diploma and certificate course students in a review of college programmes.

Accorisngw to the daily, Education CS George Magoha suggests that universities should focus on degree courses and research.

In a proposal, the ministry suggests diploma and certificate courses reserved for mid-level colleges.

Jubilee Party candidate in the just concluded Kiambaa by-election Kariri Njama who lost to UDA’s John Njuguna Wanjiku has refused to concede defeat.

According to the Swahili publication, the President Uhuru Kenyatta-led party has vowed to move to court to challenge the outcome of the mini polls.

Jubilee is headed to court on grounds that the result was manipulated by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
