The country’s top newspapers on Friday, January 7 reported on drama witnessed at the Wilson Airport after Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi insisted on using the VIP lounge without his luggage being scanned.

The dailies also reported that Deputy Prwsident William Ruto dismissed claims by COTU boss Francis Atwoli that he won’t become president in the August 9 polls.

Deputy President William Ruto has texted to claims of being rigged out of the August 9 General Elections claiming he is a member of the so-called deep state and so no one would dare rig him out.

Speaking in Vihiga County, the DP told off COTU boss Francis Atwoli who has, on numerous occasions, insisted that he would never be the president.

“I am the deputy president and I sit in the so-called deep state. What other deep state are people talking about?… I will defeat my opponents and they will another excuse. In 2027, I will again,” said the DP.

The daily reported that Kapseret lawmaker Oscar Sudi and his two friends – a wealthy Briton and an ex-Tanzania minister caused a stir at the Wilson Airport after insisting on using the VIP lounge.

It is reported that that after an intense push and pull, the MP backed down and accepted to use the domestic arrivals section as he was running late for the Political Parties Amendment Bill.

Sudi alongside British businessman Michael Spencer and former Tanzanian minister for Natural Resources and Tourism Lazarus Nyalandu had jetted in from Eldoret at Eldoret International Airport aboard an East African Air Charters plane registered as 5Y-SRI.

The Swahili publication highlighted counties that spent more money on recurrent expenditure on the expense of development.

A latest reported by the controller of budget Margaret Nyakang’o indicated that some counties did not spent even a single cent on development from July to September 2021.

Most of the counties spent 93% of the disburse funds on salaries with Baringo, Busia, Bungoma, Isiolo, Kajiado and Kericho topping the list.

The One Kenya Alliance (OKA) has received a boost after National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi promised to work with the outfit to form a third force ahead of the upcoming polls.

Muturi made the announcement after a visit to his Nairobi home by OKA principals Moses Wetang’ula (Ford Kenya), Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Musalia Mudavadi (ANC) and ex-Laugari MP Cyrus Jirongo.

The speaker called for peace ahead of the general election.

“Going forward, we will be working together for the benefit of this country. We need to maintain peace knowing that there is tomorrow,” said Muturi.
