The county’s top newspapers on Wednesday, December 15 widely reported on the 2022 succession politics with a new political party linkes to Defence CS Eugene Wamalwa throwing its weight behind ODM leader Raila Odinga.

The dailies also covered a court case in Nakuru where a former Egerton University female student was reportedly strangled to death.

The daily reported that ODM leader Raila Odinga’s presidential bid received a major boost after a new political outfit from Western Kenya declared its support for him.

The new political outfit dubbed Democratic Action Party of Kenya which is linked to Defence CS Eugene Wamalwa is now targeting Trans Nzoia and Bungoma residents.

Kanduyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi and his Tongaren counterpart Eseli Simiyu who recently fell out with Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetang’ula were named party leader and secretary-general respectively.

Accordingly to the daily, Eunice Njeri, who was a fourth-year student atthw higher learning institution was discovered dead on December 6, 2020 with the prime suspect, Eric Maingi believed tohave strangled her to death.

The deceased was pursuing a degree in Clothing, Textile, and Interior Design.

Outgoing Mombasa governor Hassan Joho’s half-brother Mohames Amir has slammed ODM party for not fulfilling most of the promises made to residents.

Amir who recently defected to DP William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) said both Jubilee and ODM have failed to improve economy in the coastal region.

He noted that he was facing animosity for joining UDA, however, noting that he is ready to pay the price because he is a true servant of the people.

According to the Swahili publication, Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi has asked for Mt Kenya people to prepare to stay without the presidency for the next 10 to 20 years.

Speaking during the launch of a new political party dubbed, Devolution Empowerment Party, the county boss stated that Mt Kenya region should have a political party that would take care of its resources.

Murungi insisted that Mt Kenya region should now put its focus on having strong political parties that will champion its needs in the national government for the period that it will be out of power.
