Tanga Tanga MPs decry plot to ‘persecute’ Ruto supporters in Mt Kenya

Tanga Tanga MPs have decried of a plot to persecute Mt Kenya leaders allied to the deputy President William Ruto.

The leaders claim the popularity of the deputy president in the Mt Kenya is giving some people in government sleepless nights.

Kandara MP Alice Wahome said DP’s detractors were concerned with DP Ruto’s growing popularity, adding a plot had been hatched ‘to cut to size’ Ruto’s ardent supporters in Murang’a and wider Mt Kenya region.

“I am aware that there was a meeting that took place a week ago in Muranga in the home of a senior business man.

There were several other people including a senior government official in the ministry of Interior. The discussion was around how we can be finished,” said Wahome

“The reference was that the Deputy President has become very strong, politically that he has too many followers…their discussion was around myself and Ndindi Nyoro, that we must be cut to size,” she said.

The MPs were reacting to waylaying of Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro by police outside Royal Media Services offices over scuffle in Murang’a earlier in the day.

Nyoro was earlier involved in a scuffle with nominated MP Maina Kamanda at a Harambee in Murang’a and it is believed he is being sought by police over the matter.

The police had camped outside the Citizen TV offices, waiting for the firebrand MP who was scheduled for an interview on Inooro TV.

“As Kiharu MP, I have all the rights to tour any part of my constituency. Let no one think that I will be intimidated just because I’m not from a well known family,” said Nyoro.

Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wa said MPs supporting DP Ruto were aware of the plot to intimidate Ruto supporters in Mt Kenya region but warned the efforts would not yield much.

“ We’re steadfast on the stand we’ve taken. We’ll not be intimidated into supporting Building Bridges Initiatives (BBI) or Raila Odinga,” said Ichung’wa speaking to Inooro TV.

Earlier on Sunday, September 8, 2019, Chaos reigned after Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro and nominated MP Maina Kamanda clashed in Gitui Catholi church in Murang’a.

Things escalated after Nyoro demanded to preside over the fundraiser that was organized by the Kieleweke faction led by Kamanda.
