Vocal Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has reacted to Senate woes that saw three Senators arrested on Monday, August 17 ahead of revenue sharing debate.
Through his social media pages, Sudi said he regrets voting for President Uhuru Kenyatta, however, blaming Deputy President William Ruto for convincing them to campaign and vote for Uhuru.
Sudi accused Uhuru’s administration of intimidating and threatening Senators opposed to the government’s formula.
“I regret voting for Uhuru Kenyatta. I didn’t know his true colours. But I blame William Ruto because he convinced some of us that Uhuru was his true friend. Anyway, May God protect Kenyans,” Sudi said.
Senators Cleophas Malala, Steve Lelegwe and Christopher Lang’at were on Monday, August 17 arrested and taken to respective counties to make statements on various charges.
Malala was arrested from his Kitengela home and driven to Mumias, Kakamega county with police saying he was arrested for distributing government sanitisers.
Lelegwe on the other hand was arrested in Riverside on his way to the Senate and driven all the way to Maralal, Samburu County where he was questioned on incitement.
On the other hand, Lang’at had a long night as police officers camped outside his Embakasi residence from 9 pm on Sunday to Monday morning when he surrendered to police.
The MP was driven to Bomet where he was accused of administering the oath on August 12, 2020 at Amalo River along the Bomet-Narok border to engage in tribal skirmishes at Olposimoru.
Senator Langat was questioned for two hours by detectives attached to the Bomet Central police station.
He was later released after denying the claims.
