Following his safe arrival, the stowaway was identified as a 22-year-old Kenyan although his name is yet to be released to the public.

International publications reported that the stowaway reportedly hopped onto a Cargolux Italia-operated cargo plane that flew from Johannesburg, South Africa to Schiphol airport in Amsterdam, making a stopover in Nairobi, Kenya.

Investigations are underway to determine if the man hopped onto the plane in South Africa or at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi.

Royal Dutch Military Police spokeswoman Joanna Helmonds noted that it is very unusual for stowaways on long flights to survive, due to the cold and low oxygen at high altitudes.

“The man was found alive in the nose wheel section of the plane and was taken to hospital in a stable condition. It is quite remarkable that the man is still alive,” she said.

In 2019, British broadcaster Sky News has deleted an investigative report that had allegedly traced and confirmed the identity of the stowaway who fell from a Kenya Airways plane in London in June.

The Sky News story published on November 11, identified Paul Manyasi, reported as an employee of Colnet, a cleaning company based at JKIA as “the man who fell from the sky”.
