Stone-wielding Gor Mahia Fan Says She Was Defending Her Boyfriend

A woman who was photographed running across Kasarani stadium with a large stone during a football match between Gor Mahia and Vihiga Bullets FC has spoken.

In an interview with Standard Media, Winnie Nyar Kasagam, alias Sheryl Aluoch explained that she was on a rescue mission after her boyfriend fell victim to a fracas pitting supporters of the two teams.

Chaos erupted after a section of football fans attempted to forcefully access the stadium by jumping over a fence to avoid paying KSh 200 entrance fee forcing FKF officials to cancel the match.

Unfortunately, Winnie’s boyfriend, George Odinga was caught up in the melee and sustained an injury forcing her to take action by revenge on his behalf.

“I am a calm person. The Winnie you saw carrying a stone at the stadium wasn’t the Winnie that every other person knows. That day I was emotionally disturbed; my heart was aching… My boyfriend had been assaulted. It angered me because my lover supports me financially, and is the breadwinner in our relationship.

“Initially, there were rumours that he’d been killed. I had just arrived at Kasarani Stadium, only to hear that Odinga had been seriously assaulted. When I entered the stadium, I found him lying on the ground unconscious,” Winnie said.

Winnie stated that she felt embarrassed when the photos went viral on social media, however, noting that she gradually got over it.
