Samburu Senator Steve Ltumbesi Lelegwe has been arrested.
Confirming his arrest, Narok Senator Ledama Olekina said the Senator Lelegwe was apprehended and immediately moved to Maralal.
Ledama said the Senator was arrested over his stand on the divisive Commission for Revenue Allocation (CRA) revenue sharing formula.
Lelegwe is among senators whonare opposing the revenue sharing formula.
In a statement, Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Murkomen claimed that Samburu Senator Steve Lelegwe was the first to be pursued by the DCI after opposing the formula.
“DCI has been ordered to arrest&prefer false charges against at least 5 Senators opposed to the oppressive Revenue Formula. They are currently going for Sen. Dr. Steve Ltumbesi Lelegwe, Samburu County. Desperation is real. Arrest any of us and there will be no session tomorrow,” Murkomen claimed.
Among the senators who have opposed the Commission for Revenue Allocation (CRA) formula despite their counties gaining include Mithika Linturi (Meru), Christopher Langat (Bomet), Aaron Cheruiyot (Kericho), Kipchumba Murkomen (Elgeyo Marakwet) and Cleophas Malala (Kakamega).
