Nyeri tycoon Stephen Wang’ondu wo has accused of killing his son, Daniel Mwangi Wang’ondu, over insurance compensation is dead.
According to multiple sources, the old man succumbed to COVID-19 complications at a hospital in Nyeri, on Friday, May 7.
According to a report on the Standard, Wang’ondu was admitted at the hospital after securing his release from custody on a KSh 1 million bond.
Wang’ondu hit the headlines in January 2021 when reports linked him to the brutal murder of his son who was found dead at the gate of his home on January 1, 2021.
After a series of investigations, it emerged that Wang’ondu was the master mind of the brutal murder.
According to police reports, the 35-year-old was killed on New Year’s Eve by his own friends at the behest of his father.
A Central Regional Criminal Investigations Officer, and a team of DCI officers first arrested Mwangi’s father’s driver at Githurai following vital clues drawn from the crime scene and forensic-led intelligence.
Upon interrogation, the driver led officers to Embu at Matakani area where two other suspects were arrested.
The police statement alleged that the driver had been given KSh 20,000 to facilitate the murder.
Detectives later established that the three long-time friends had been hired to kill the victim by the father.
